I have said it before and I say it again, so long as David Cameron is in power in this country, it will go towards a melt down.

He is only out for his own, the rich, as for the poor they will keep getting poorer and the rich will keep getting richer, I saw this soon as he got in with his empty promises and obvious lies.

Just remember people, next time we get a chance, get Cameron out of power, or things could get quite bumpy for all of us, in the end!

So when are they going to do something about it? For the last few years they were all but encouraging trucker, farmers etc to protest about prices and also promising they would help business and consumers by cutting back on the tax levy if they got in. I have yet to see what the tories are doing to repeal the 'fuel duty escalator' that they themslves introduced about 20 years ago.

We are ConDem'ed to higher living costs all around.;)

What are you prepared to give up? What extra taxes are you prepared to pay to make up the short fall?

This is the crux of the debate that non of the "fuel campaigners" are prepared to discuss. The Road Haulage Association can compare our fuel duty rates with those in Belgium as much as they want. What they won't wish to compare however is our rate of corporation tax to the one in Belgium, where they have a pretty sweet deal by comparison.

And at the end of the day, this isn't just a UK problem. The UK average price per litre of unleaded (according to the July AA Fuel Report) was 117.5p. That's lower than the average in Denmark (125.06), Finland (121.61), France (119.07), Germany (118.73), Greece (127.30), the Netherlands (131.46), Norway (132.17) and Portugal (117.88).

I have just read petrol prices are going up again. These companies have us by the nads.....isn't there anything we can do to drive down their prices???

    One solution is:

To choose a company as a group of individuals and then make a concious decision not to buy petrol there for a month, 2 months. And then move onto another company. Im not sure if it's a good idea, if it's workable but we have to do something as these petrol companies are fleecing us!

    Looking for advice and support....

My advice is stop posting dross like this on forums.

    HAHAHAHA.

Excellent idea. So lets choose Shell. To avoid buying Petrol from Shell, it means nobody in Greater Manchester, Lancashire, Cheshire, Merseyside, The Wirral and North Wales can buy petrol from Shell, BP, Esso, Jet, Asda etc etc etc as they all come from the same refinery at Ellesmere Port. So in short, nobody in the North West can buy petrol within 50-100 miles of where they live for 2 months.

Nice suggestion but yet another in the long line of them that serve only to prove the poster knows nothing about the supply chain.

One way I read last time the fuel price was hiked up was if everyone joined together and boycotted one big name like ESSO, then they would soon drop their prices to beat the competition. Sadly it's easier said than done,

Indeed it is because it is extremely likely that the Esso garage you frequent isn't supplied from an Esso refinery.

So no change from the previous Labour governments then

on the basis that it wasnt terribly hard to predict that fuel prices were going to go and up as the government(s) see us motorists as an easy target, when my car was due to be changed i went for one of the eco versions of the car i wanted.

Now i get 60mpg, compared to the 28mpg i was getting in my then car the last time some years ago fuel was this high.

And when we built our new house there, we went wood pellet and solar instead of oil, so further reducing our usage of fossil fuels.

We're probably on the plateau of peak oil right now. High fuel price ? I don't think so.

When people stop driving 1.5 miles to the shops then we must have high fuel prices.
