I bank with HSBC and they have never tried to sell me any products over the phone when I have called them. They get the thumbs up from me!

Stay away from natwest - every single bloody time I go to pay cash in, they try and get me in for a 'review'. 'Review' meaning they are going to try and get me to upgrade to their fee account, which I have no use for, and which they already spent an hour trying to sell to me when I first opened the account.

Got a new debit card from A&L recently and had to phone them to activate it - of course, I got the spiel about their card protection insurance if lost/stolen, fraud protection, etc. I told him that a few months previously I had been a victim of online fraud, reported it and A&L had the money back in my account within 48 hours - so what exactly is the point of paying extra for a service they already do? I don't think he had an answer for that.....

I actually don't mind A&L and they never try and sell to me in branch (they do when I phone though). I've also heard good things about HSBC.

As above. They never bothered me in the 18 months I was with them... the only time they seemed remotely interested in me was when I went in and closed all my savings accounts yesterday. I'd never seen the guy so cheerful.... Obviously not bothered about losing customers....

im really happy with ltsb, rbs and hsbc. halifax are ok but sometimes there staff get things mixed up or might have a laugh whilst a customer is waiting to be served. overall there 4 good banks
