Unless you're in Scotland, your local RBS will soon be a branch of El Banco Santander!

RBS or clydesdale bank if your in scotland then:)
    For everthing else there's mastercard.
    For clampers there's Barclaycard.
  • Another vote for First Direct and they give you £100 for swapping.
  • I bank with HSBC and they have never tried to sell me any products over the phone when I have called them. They get the thumbs up from me!

You will want to confirm with First Direct but I think that if you live in Scotland, they allow you to use Post Office's to pay into your account

Stay away from natwest - every single bloody time I go to pay cash in, they try and get me in for a 'review'. 'Review' meaning they are going to try and get me to upgrade to their fee account, which I have no use for, and which they already spent an hour trying to sell to me when I first opened the account.

Got a new debit card from A&L recently and had to phone them to activate it - of course, I got the spiel about their card protection insurance if lost/stolen, fraud protection, etc. I told him that a few months previously I had been a victim of online fraud, reported it and A&L had the money back in my account within 48 hours - so what exactly is the point of paying extra for a service they already do? I don't think he had an answer for that.....

I actually don't mind A&L and they never try and sell to me in branch (they do when I phone though). I've also heard good things about HSBC.

As above. They never bothered me in the 18 months I was with them... the only time they seemed remotely interested in me was when I went in and closed all my savings accounts yesterday. I'd never seen the guy so cheerful.... Obviously not bothered about losing customers....

    *boggles*
I spent 25 years in the mobile industry, from 1994 to 2019. Worked for indies as well as the big networks, in their stores also in contact centres. I also hold a degree in telecoms engineering so I like to think I know what I’m talking about 😂
  • im really happy with ltsb, rbs and hsbc. halifax are ok but sometimes there staff get things mixed up or might have a laugh whilst a customer is waiting to be served. overall there 4 good banks
  • I bank with Nationwide and have never had any complaints
