Unlcoked phone updates ?
Good Afternoon,
If a handset is unlocked and therfore free to be on any network...even ones that don't offer that handset...how do you get updates for it ? online and download them I assume as they can't come over the air from the carrier (network) because the carrier don't offer that phone.
The reason I ask is because I want to get an unlocked DELL STREAK and put my Orange contract SIM into it....(going off my Motorola Milestone which I currently have and want to sell to get a STREAK)...Orange don't currently offer the DELL STREAK.
Will I encounter any problems with functionality of the DELL STREAK doing this and how do I get the updates ?
Many thanks for your help

in my experience the main issue is likely to be that because Orange don't supply the handset they wont have the data settings for that device, you might be able to use the settings from a similar handset but may not be perfect or even work at all,
The handset software it depends on the devices software type - does it have any networks software (e.g. o2) if not it's likely to be unbranded and you should be able to get software updates direct from dell otherwise it depends on how the network/manufacturer manage their updatesYes Your Dukeiness0
