    The thing about advice is, some of it is actually good.Might even stop you reversing into a parked car someday.

    Something similar happened to a neighbour of my dads and he very nearly got the insurance to pay up on a witness statement. It turned out to have happened in the night and the witness and neighbour were friends so went for a fraudulent claim.
    Please leave it to the insurance company to sort out the burden of proof surely lies with the witness
