:)When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free :money:

Examples could be charging your phone up at work instead of at home to save your electricity, hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important :)

Hope noone minds me starting this... trying to do it everyday :)

Today:

Daily scratches
Some comps
Chicken already out freezer to defrost for tonight
Need to post book for Amazon
Need to get caught up on housework (go to work for 2 days and the place goes to pot )
Maybe visit a local free museum if weather picks up, otherwise might just have a jammie day :)
Check bank

Whats everyone else up to today?

  • Good morning all!

I am pleased to announce I did ALL of my 50 housework jobs over the weekend :T DS2 helped with two, DS3 did one and DH helped with one too, but by the time I went to bed all 50 were done.

    So far today:
    • checked banking
    • checked for surveys
    • found bits of food to take to work for lunch
    • fed and watered chickens and asked for at least 3 eggs today
    I will also:
    • take bike to work as it takes very little petrol and far cheaper than the car
    • charge mobile at work
    • just buy 2 rolls to fill with left over roast gammon
    • get into sewing room this evening to look at a customer's order (haven't been in there since starting work in June :()
    • check out electricity suppliers tonight
I'm going to request a week off work to de-clutter the utility room and shampoo living room carpet. Isn't it awful that these things can't be fitted into a "normal" weekend?

Hope you all have a good day.

    Morning all!
    Hope everyone is OK?

Not too much on the agenda for me today - did a lot of the essential jobs over the weekend so not much in the way of housework to do.
So, in theory, there's plenty of time to do schoolwork!

    So the list....
    • Take dog to the park for a run around and maybe do a little bit of running around myself;)
    • Pop to town for school supplies - need folders etc - a budgeted spend and will be no more than £10 so won't count towards a NSD
    • Put dry washing away
    • Do at least 2 hours schoolwork (did tons yesterday so feel better about it now)
    • Email teacher friend about work
    • All food from stores - fish kebabs for OH and morrocan butterbeans and couscous for me for tea
    • Water plants
    • Do any surveys that come
    • Do a face mask and scrub later
    • Stay in and watch the soaps
That's all I can think of this morning so far - nothing very adventurous today!

Loads of stuff in our veg patch is ready all at once, so I'm going to spend today making loads of meals for the freezer which we can eat through the autumn. Going to start with tomato soup, lots of Carluccio pasta sauce, courgette curry, maybe pizza, then divide peas up into bags to freeze & make fish pie with some leftover salmon so I can use our potatoes on top. Loads of greengages going to be ready soon so going to look out a chutney recipe too, cos I can trim the jars up nice for Christmas presents.

No you're not a vegetarian if you eat any animal or fish, so do not insult genuine veggies by calling yourself one!
