Very good looking cake :T
I dont think anybody has mentioned if it,s going to taste ok.
If it tastes as good as it looks, your great aunt will be really chuffed!
Well done again. :T :T :TI came into this world with nothing and I'm gonna leave with nothing.0 -
That is amazing! How long did it take altogether? My great aunt was the cake maker in our lot but she has hung her baking tins out to dry. I'd love to have a go at something like this. Where do you start - do you look at cake books etc?
It's my Dad's birthday in November and may have a bash at something like this for him.[size=-2]Remember its nice to be nice and its good to share!

Re: how I got into it, I was bored last year and offered to my friends daughter a birthday cake, when I visited the local cake shop for advice, I saw the true cost of cakes and thought I might have a go. The shop did a weekly "class" which I attended for a few weeks until my car got broken into whilst parked outside. So I decided to look at the college instead (safer area). I started the ABC Intro to Cake Dec in Sept 05 and passed with a distinction in Jul 06. I've just started my 2nd year and have 2 more years after this one to be fully qualified!
Basically although we are taught stuff at the college, most of my cake for friends and family are done from pictures! I have a few books and would highly recommend Debbie Brown and Lindy Smith Books :T Also the Internation School of Sugarcraft book one (usually one going on ebay!)
This cake is a new recipe that I've never tried before so nervour as to what people think, though when I tried the trimmings, it was the best tasting cake I've done yet, in my opionion anyway!
Thanks again everyone,
