Hmmmmm. It seems to me little_girl_lost is a little_bit_lost_and_less_than_honest. To say there's no ability to take payments via debit card payments is more than a little disingenuous. Also your understanding of how a policy lapses is misinformed and incorrect.
Ok I said I was gone - I'm not, I'm lurking and you guys are making me so angry!
I worked there for petes sake. They employ developers to make their own shoddy system for keeping policy records and payment records.
This system has no place, what-so-ever to enter a debit card payment.
ever.
Only sort codes and account numbers.
Maybe my understanding of how policies lapse is incorreect. I dont know. But if its Swinton that taught that to me and the OP wants to deal with Swinton he better start using thier language or they're not going to understand.
And for the record Swinton does not have a flippin S on the end.
Over and out.

@ dacouch: MMA are an insurance company - Swinton are an insurance broker. The fact that Swinton are owned by MMA has sack all to do with anything. Swinton have to comply with FSA the same as any other broker does. This has nothing what so ever to do with anything.
@ little_girl_lost: You may well have used a limited system becuase you may well have had access to limited policies. If memory serves me correctly without reading back, you were referring to life insurance/accidental death or something similair. Those type of policies are so called 'no touch' polcies which require very little maintenance. They stay on cover with a rolling direct debit and if the direct debit is cancelled, then the policy is cancelled. That just goes to show to me that your knowledge of general insurance is very narrow and very limited - it doesn't mean you wrong in what you say but I doubt it has much to contribute to this discussion.
Yes - Swinton has no 's' on the end.0
