My contract with vodafone finishes in May, I realise now I was ripped off and will be looking for much better deal. How soon should I contact them to "negotiate"
if i had known then what i know now

    Start talking to them a couple of days before you are due to put in your 1 month termination notice. Put the notice in anyway. You can always retract it if they won't play ball.
