The charity that is employing them will be mortified at the tactics they are using. They are employed on a comission basis so want you to sign up, but they also have strict set of guidelines they are supposed to work to. Mentioning you car and ring will certainly be seen as over-steping the mark and will lead to disiplinary action being taken.
Don't worry that you don't know the chuggers name as the charity will know which person is working which street at any given time and day.
I did think about reporting it, but thought there would be little point! The man from the cancer charity was representing one of the largest and well known charities in Britain and I was not impressed with how he came across. Will look into reporting him, hopefully what he said to me isn't the norm!:heart2: Newborn Thread Member :heart2:

If you genuinely cannot spare one pound a month all you had to do was use the bin but, then again, perhaps you were already over stretching yourself with the fiver?
You obviously didn't read the OP, as they didn't say anything about expecting to be thanked.
The post is about a seemingly ungrateful charity that as asking the kind donor to up their donation by 20% before they've even started!!
Personally I would cancel the £5/month direct debit, save it up, then donate £60 a year to a local charity of your choice, who will no doubt be MUCH more grateful.
I do not donate to any charity who pester for money. Nor do I like the large amount of money they pay to their staff. Local only for me.Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -

Thank you pinkshoes, that was exactly my point. I hadn't even started yet!
Mathsmaster, I could afford it a hundred times over a month easily, but it's not the point. I chose to donate an amount, and before I had even parted with a penny, they are spending other peoples money trying to get more out of me.
I know it was only an increase from £5 to £6, but it's not the point, and I cancelled out of principle.I spent 25 years in the mobile industry, from 1994 to 2019. Worked for indies as well as the big networks, in their stores also in contact centres. I also hold a degree in telecoms engineering so I like to think I know what I’m talking about 😂0 -
^^ Good for you too.
I sponsored a Donkey once, holy moly, I could have bought my own Donkey if I add up all the postage for the junk mail I have received since sponsoring the stupid thing.0
