I can't remember where I got this list from, but I found it in a txt file the other day. I haven't checked every link (status/404 errors etc) but i tested a random sample and they seemed to be OK. It's a couple of years old so there may be more/better apps out there. Maybe if there is enough feedback I can update the list.

Gee what a bunch of ungreatful so and sos. Don't know why I bothered. I was just rather surprised to not see any list as a sticky on a website dedicated to value for money.

Go and spend your money on Norton Firewall then.

I don't think you really did anything worth getting so unhappy about, you say you found the list and just pasted it, no work there.

I'm actually quite upset with the hostility i've got here. I was trying to do I nice thing for people by starting a list of commonly used applications that people can get for free. Instead i've got the usual techie "1-up" response i've had in the past from other forums and people. I don't think i'll bother next time.
