  • There is some editors (software) available but you have to design the template first and slice it for coding. need to know basic css and xhtml.

    You will need to
    1) Create a website / webpage
    2) Register a domain name, e.g. silkyuk.co.uk
    3) Find somewhere to host it

Creating the website will require getting some software like Frontpage or dreamweaver, or using a website builder like Google pages. Or alternatively, using a content management system, which can be acquired for free.

If it's a commercial website, then best to pay someone to do this, unless you've got the time & patience to learn the above. PM me for more details.
Of course, I may just be talking b****cks!

    ms frontpage is easier.
if you can use excel, word and powerpoint then you're halfway to using frontpage.

you also need webspace to upload to though.

Keen photographer with sales in the UK and abroad.
Willing to offer advice on camera equipment and photography if i can!
  • yeah try to get the domain name and web space for uploading files to see live in the browser.
  • There are a number of things you will have to take into account but it all depends on the site you want to make. Can you give us an understanding of what the site will do and its basic function.

Can I recommend a software product called SiteSpinner (of if you want your site to be available on a mobile phone you need the SiteSpinner Pro version). You can try it free for a month and they have a very helpful help desk where questions you post are answered in the same day or certainly within 24 hours at no cost. It also comes with a special offer for registration of your web name and space to load it. I have used Frontpage and it is a lot better than that. I tried and failed miserably to set up and maintain a site via the Virgin "free space" and that simply didn't work with my Telewest/Blueyonder interface and I had to abandon it. I went on a Dreamweaver course and found it much too complicated. SiteSpinner represents a good half way house. There is a bit of a learning curve but nothing too steep. It is not as flexible as the most sophisticated web builders but it is quicker to learn and use.

Try www.avanquest.com/UK/ and have a look at Web Easy Professional.

I designed a web site from scratch with this a couple of years ago and like you knew sweet f/a about where to start and what to do but it was it was really easy to use.

It retails at around £40 but if you subscribe to their newsletter you can often get it on special offer.

It also includes a built-in,website hosting service (with 3 months included free) and a free domain if you don’t want to register your own.
