EBAY - Seller Help!

Hi,
I recently sold an item on eby by auction and the winning bidder failed to pay despite lots of emails. I sold the item on a second chance offer to the next highest bidder 3 days after the auction closed.
The original buyer then PAID on day 4 (I refunded immediately) and now refuses to agree to close the sale, and I am finiding myself paying 2 lots of final selling fees. This buyer ignored all emails until this morning sending me one saying 'i won, and i want the bag'!
Is there anyhting I can do to get my final selling fee recredited?

Many Thanks

  • think you should be more concerned about the neg you are probably going to get than a few pence in ebay fees. I think you were a bit hasty offering it after only three days and also a bit pushy by sending "lots of emails" during the first three days.

When i say lots, i mean like an invoice and 2 payment reminders. It's really irritating that i'll come off worse from this when, the buyer, should have made contact!

So, to clarify, you sent an invoice and 2 reminders (and sold to someone else), by day 3 when a buyer has 7 days to pay?

Buyers have 7 day to pay. You can do nothing until day 4 when you can open a dispute on day 8 you can close the dispute so technically they could wait 7 days.

So reselling the item on day 3 was a little hasty. You shouldn't sell the item to anyone else until you have managed to close a NPB dispute (day 8) otherwise you will end up in the situation you are in.

A lot of buyers wait till day 3 or 4 to pay especially if they have bid and been away for a few days. So if the original buyer is in that position they will rightfully be rather annoyed so expect a Neg feedback.

You can do nothing about the fees but pay hem and hope they don't leave FB

Maybe the buyer should have made contact but 3 days after an auction ends is too early to offer second chance. A dispute can only be opened on day 4 for none payment. Did you have anything in your listing saying item must be paid for in 3 day or item will be relisted or something similar

Even if they did, it is irrelevant. Ebay give 7 days to pay.

To actually answer your specific question no, there is no way you can reclaim your original set of FVFs.

The process should be that you wait until day 4 and then open an NPB on the buyer, if they don’t pay within another 4 days you can close the NPB and at that point go out to a second chance offer.

As you went out too early to the SCO you now have 2 valid winning bidders, two lots of fees and 2 buyers capable of leaving you feedback and appropriate stars.
It is hard if you want to get rid of something quickly, but you must follow the process to protect yourself.

Also, keep your nag mails to a minimum, an invoice after auction ends and maybe one further invoice or email after that before going to an NPB whenever you feel comfortable after 4 days has elapsed.

Thanks everyone for your comments, having never found myself in this situation before I didn't look at the 'small print'!
