Hi
I have an ipod touch, its ace BUT I'm trying to upload another set of cd's that have been in the loft out of the way.
Its taking forever, its loading at 2.4x at present.
It used to be quick as anything, at this rate it'll take an hour per cd and they will have to go back in the loft.
Please help.

@Dave_liverpool
If you're ripping those CDs to load into iTunes, it's converting them to mp3 or mp4 format.
Check that you've not got the bitrate set too high, that would make it take a long time to convert.Never interrupt your enemy when he is making a mistake.0 -
I will admit to not knowing a word of you type mate, so embarrased.
I bet I've had this 1 cd in for approx half hour and its done 3 tracks!0 -
take one of the songs that in your 30 mins for 3 tracks, how long is that track in play time and how large in Megabytes is the file size?Survey earnings total 2009 £417, 2010 £875, 2011 £5740

the 1st 3 tracks were 3.36/3.10/4.04, I can't see where the megabytes info is.
Its got a bit faster now

Dave_liverpool,
Here's how to check the import settings on iTunes: click on the Edit menu, then click on Preferences. Click on the General tab - somewhere in the middle of the screen should be a button for "Import Settings". Click on it and it should bring up another panel with two pull down menus and a greyed out box - this box should have the current settings for your iTunes. If somewhere in there you see 320 kbps (stereo) then that's probably the reason why the CD's are going so slowly!
Try changing the settings in the Setting pull down menu - you can probably get away with selecting the 'Higher Quality' setting (192 kbps).
Another thing is - if your CD's are older, might they be a bit scratched? If so, and if you have a tick next to "Use error correction when reading audio CD's", then that will slow things down as well - iTunes will have several 'goes' at reading the CD to try 'fix' the scratch problem, and this can take ages.
Au Res.,

Hi Quaint,
thanks for that info, yes I found the import settings and it is set to sterio. I changed it to high quality and it immediatly went to 3.1x.
The settings read
Import using : AAC Encoder
Import: High Quality 128 kbps0 -

Hi
The bitrate of 128Kbps is OK, so that's not what is causing the problem.Never interrupt your enemy when he is making a mistake.0
