I am really looking forward to playing the wii with its interactive game pad. It looks really good on the tv ads and the guy in the shop was raving about it too and he must know what he is talking about.
Graphics - Schmaphics!!
Half the price? I thought it was 180?
I got my 360 premium last week for 189.99 from woolworths.
A guy in a shop raving about an item they get commission for preselling? Shocker!0 -
The Wii is £179.99 the Premium XBox 360 is £279.99 so not double the price but a lot more.
The Wii is about the controller and a new way to play games, not graphics.
If all you want is something that looks amazing then get a 360.
If you want to try a different kind of gaming then go for the Wii.
The 2 consoles aren't really comparable as they are aiming at totally different audiences.0 -

189.99 for the 360 premium package?!?
Are you sure...!??!
Woolies are doing it for 289.99........ or at least that's according to their website.
Did I miss something???0 -

I think buying a Wii is madness, clearly not even close graphically.
I'm buying thw Wii for playability reasons not because of graphics. Graphics in games are not important without playability issues.
I've never owned a Nintendo before so i'm in new territory. I think most people will be buying the Wii because of the the remote. Nintendo are aiming the console at "older people and women" and I think they might be on a winner. Oh, the fishing game in the advert looks pretty cool!0 -

It launches next Friday the 8th December:)Darren0 -
I think if you ask anyone they would prefer gameplay to graphics, but the extra features you get with the other consoles are a huge advantage to buying them. And it is possible to have good graphics and gameplay! The Wii can't even play dvds. My boyfriend and I like to take a console with us if we go and stay in a hotel or in self catering accomodation in this country - this means we can also watch dvds, listen to music, look at photos we have taken, charge phones/camera etc as well as play games.
Not to mention when at home being able to connect to the net and browse on a PS3 and even install linux/windows on it - this could mean many people no longer need a pc if they only use it for basic tasks - packaged with a bluray player this doesn't make the ps3 a bad price at all - and fairly portable too for a pc.
The wii controller thing is probably more advanced than stuff thats already around but it's not a brand new concept is it - you have things like the eyetoy and controllers like the fishing rod already around. I see nintendo as having more of a party games type console - rather than being a serious competition to the ps3.0 -

If you read the latest mags for HDTV, etc they tested recent Blue Ray hardware and slated it. Also, I have read reports in a few mags that you would be better off building a "PS3 Equivelent". Obvoiously you wont get to play PS3 games, but when the launch price for these games is > £50 (closer to 60) well...
Also - you cant compare the Wii with 360/PS3... Wii is an exclusively gaming experience. Nothing else.Being bored is so boring Im bored of it... :rotfl:0 -
if you don't like the wii, just get out of the thread (why did you click on it anyway? Just to start an arguement?). It's not a discussion of which console is best - that's for the playground. This is a discussion about pre orders for nintendo wii's and where to get them from.
Anyway...
I ordered mine instore from toys r us last week and got a yellow slip. Just noticed it said they'll be contacting me in novemeber (not heard from them yet) when i can choose my bundle. Anyone know what the bundles are yet, and if you have to have them? Also any inside news on allocations... i really want mine on launch day.0 -

Ok sorry - chill out!
Some people on this forum are so rude!
Other people were discussing the graphics vs gameplay issue - just adding my opinion.
It doesn't mean I wont buy one either - just trying to help people who can only afford to buy one console and have to pick!
I'll keep my wii opinions to myself then!0
