New technology.

Options
New technology. At the age of 62, which today is quite young, I find the world of technology very exciting in particular the computer and the Internet.
There are so many uses, basically all the knowledge of the world is at my fingertips and because of that my thirst for knowledge knows no bounds and the excitement it brings with it is wonderful.
Everyday I find amazing new discoveries, gone are the days where you put on your slippers and sit in front of the television, because now you can travel the world from within your own home.
I do shopping online, my banking, pay my bills, and by doing so saves me money I can talk to my family and friends and at the same time see them via the web-cam, who would have believed that would have been possible.
I could go on and on about the wonders of the computer, but that's enough for now.

I would just like to add I didn't type any of this post out I used Mac-speech so I used my voice and Mac-speech typed it out absolutely incredible what next?

    Hi, viv!

I agree about technology. For me its main joy is that I can keep in touch with DS so easily (he lives in the USA).

Glad to find another mac user, too. How does the mac-speech cope with a Welsh accent?

Well I have had problems with it, mainly because the Welsh tend to speak rather fast. I have had it for about a month now and to have it work affectively I have had to slow down my speech, so at this moment in time its about 80% accurate. I will continue training it, and we will get better, but it is really awesome.

Only this morning on Breakfast they were talking about how some businesses are starting to look more seriously at developing products aimed at older customers. See the Bbc/click website

I can't possibly imagine 'what next'. In my lifetime the first iron I used was a flat iron heated up on the range, if I wanted to phone someone I walked to the box, put two pennies in the slot and pressed button B if there was no reply, listened to Radio Luxembourg - very exotic, and the washing had to go through the wringer !
.................:)....I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)

    I remember button B.
When we were kids we use to go around all the local phone boxes hoping if we pressed it we'd get coppers out that people had forgotten to take.

    And i'm only 21.

I remember all of those, so maybe what's next is that I'll work out that there might be some use in an MP3 player!

Seriously, I think a lot of the 'what's next' is still a bit for the sake of it. Like mobile phones. I want a phone, for making phone calls, I don't WANT to get my email on my phone!
