    I've been Money Tipped!
My OH sent his away for renewal and also got his back within a week.

Mine was my first passport, all documents sent away by Special Delivery on Thursday 29th July 2010, the following Friday I received a letter stating I needed to go to an interview, booked it for the following Wednesday at 1045, received my birth certifcate on the Saturday. Went for the interview on the Wednesday, was there 15 minutes before my appointment as (stated you had to be there 10 minutes before on the letter), left the interview at 1040, 5 minutes before the interview was due to start and received my passport on Friday just gone!

All in all a very good service, just as well really as we're going away on the 3rd September.
  • I was astonished I have to pay £39 for my daughter's renewal. Hooowww much??

May dad got his back within the week. It cost him nothing at all for the renewal.
  • OOh, maybe I don't have to pay then? It wasn't clear from the phoneline you have to ring.

Indeed, they do look ripe for being sadly ConDem'ed to a lesser service.

In my dad's case, it is something to do with his age. IIRC it is related to 'D' Day somehow.

You do have to pay generally, I've just paid £177 for all 3.

If you are over a certain age they are free.

You may well find a local photographic shop will charge around the same price as the Tesco booths and will know how to meet the passport office requirements.
