No communication from powerseller-should I be worried?

Hi folks, I've been lurking here for a while and am posting in the hope that some of you more experienced Ebayers can give me some advice. :)

I'm fairly new to Ebay and am worried that I'm about to have my first bad experience with it. On September 5th I purchased some beads from a powerseller in the US with 99.9% positive feedback. After purchasing I discovered I had to use a Marketworks checkout and after a few problems getting all my purchases to show up I paid via Paypal. The link to Paypal was from the Marketworks site and for some reason it kept asking me to add a new address as mine was apparently missing some vital information. I couldn't do because I would also have to add a new card. I reckoned that this might have something to do with me not having a postcode as I'm in Ireland, so continued using my usual Paypal address. I confirmed it in messages sent to the seller using the Paypal message form and also through My Ebay. The next day I received a brief message from the seller via My Messages saying that this was no problem.

All of their Ebay pages state that items are usually dispatched with 48-72 hours, email notification of dispatch is sent and buyers are always informed if there will be a delay. I received an email receipt from Marketworks and when I click on the enclosed link it still shows a status of 'payment cleared' and a message that an email will be sent when the items are dispatched. Last Tuesday I sent a friendly message to the seller via My Messages just to make sure that everything is ok and have yet to receive a reply. The seller responded to other feedback left half an hour after I sent my message.

Their feedback is full of praise for their quick dispatch and great communication, apart from one recent neg where a buyer claims they initiated a npb dispute in spite of having been paid and the seller left a very strange retaliatory neg. Although I don't want to keep pestering them with messages, I'm now starting to feel quite uneasy. Am I overreacting?

Personally I would send one more email asking for details on when the items were sent. Make an excuse like, you just wanted to check as you've already had another delivery from overseas that arrived very quickly, or something.

If you get no response, then assuming nothing arrives in tomorrow's post consider starting a chargeback. It is a bit early yet for a US item, but I would be a little concerned at lack of contact.

  • Thanks soolin. I've just noticed a neutral from a US buyer for slow dispatch, so I think I'll give them another few days and then follow your advice. :)
