    I've been Money Tipped!
    Thanks for all the input.

We had the excess reimbursement from carhireexcess.com, not Europcar, but didn't want the hassle of paying and reclaiming for 1 hubcap.

As it was, when we returned the car this morning, not a word was said about the hubcap scratches. Everything signed off as returned in condition it was hired.

Europcar were fine, but we're keeping our eye on the CC statement for the next few months.

We were due to hire a Auto Jardim car, not Europcar, but AJ cancelled our booking 1 week before we needed it, meaning Europcar was the only option available at such short notice. Our friends who we were on holiday with, who booked their Auto Jardim car 1 week after we did in June, didn't get their booking cancelled, but were due to pay more than we were for the hire. Both of us had paid a £20 deposit, Auto Jardim delivered for them, but not for us. Money grabbing?! Nah!

Good thinking, they tried to charge my CC weeks after the hire car was returned.
  • Keep the document that says the car was returned undamaged, then you will have no problem charging back the amount should they attempt to debit your card.
