Ok, i have a bag of blackberries in me freezer, a bag of slightly bitter eating apples, and a pack and a half of jam sugar plus squeezy lemon juice. The blackberries frozen weigh just over 2lbs and i think the apples around 3-4lbs as they are.

made 2 jars of blackberry jelly and 8 jars of blackberry and apple jam from apples donated and OH and I blackberry picking. - got recipes from Woodland Trust freebies that was on the MSE website a couple of weeks ago. Tastes delicious on toast and am giving them to friends for birthdays between now and christmas with a twinks and banana cake hamper!!
Hopefully some more apples will be donated shortly and I can find some more blackberries to make moreMortgage free as at 1/9/13 :j

I got the jam bug a couple of years ago, now many friends and family cant wait for me to start jamming...just picked a bucketload of blackberries....will be in the jars in a couple of hours
free berries + sugar etc + a little time = bliss

I'd like some help too please... I've been washing the blackberries as I pick them and adding them to a container in the freezer. I now have a big block of blackberries:eek: I'd love to make jam. How do you know how many jars you'll need etc? Can you work it out from frozen weight or do you have to let them defrost? Maybe it would be better to just use them with yoghurt... but it would be nice to have a go. Thanks for any advice.:)The beautiful thing about learning is nobody can take it away from you.
