HSBC just ruined my credit report!!

After hsbc put me in debt by nearly £600 due to bank charges, last month my loan repayment bounced ( HSBC took the money i had set aside for loan in charges ) I made an arrangement to pay at the end of the month - 14 days. Funnily enough, HSBC refunded me my charges, but the day BEFORE the loan repayment was due, they filed a 'missing payment' on my credit report!! unbelieveable!
i am *so* angry with them. noone at their call centres will take ownership of the issue and noone TOLD ME my credit rating could/would be affected, even tho i made a promise to pay. No other creditor has ever done this to me.
Not to mention it was HSBC's fault that i couldnt pay the loan on time in the first place! Noone on the phone wants to know, and ive been 'disconnected' twice, and if i ask for a manager calls me back, noone ever does - but if i am 5 pennies overdrawn i get a call at 7:50am in the morning!!??! Im running out of time, patience and call credit to keep calling them and last tim i *faxed* my BM it took nearly a week for a response!?!
Just dont know what to do, at my wits end, REALLY want to move to barclays asap, but as HSBC have screwed my credit rating it is unlikely i will be accepted.
Help please!!!

If you don't make your repayments on time, or you miss a payment, this is and always has been recorded on your credit file I'm afraid. If you have come to an arrangement to pay, this will appear on your credit file, as opposed to a missed payment on your credit file.
Re charges, I don't know what HSBC's fees trigger for, I take it you have had unpaid items?Best Regards

I wasnt notified of this, and this has never happened before to me. an AP should have been put on my credit file, not a missed payment as the payment has not been missed!!!
the charges were on top of charges which were on top of charges, and direct debits which were then moved to a suitable time of the month. the charges i got back anyway, but it was during this period where i was trying to sort out the charges that the payment bounced.0 -
On a side note, if you have had over £600 in charges then this will have been going over 4 months. Do you have a budget in place?0
-
nope it was £600 over *3* months - £200 each month in bank charges.
yes i have a budget, ive shown my budget to a million people at HSBC who very very sneery on the phone to me at first, then they realised what a high DI i had normally, plus all my bank statements the last 4 years which showed i had never gone into my OD.
Death can be very expensive.0 -
oh i should also say that this is the first and only time in 4 years that ive ever had a late payment.0

By the way, with current accounts a '1' does not denote a 'missed payment'. It denotes...Agreed repayments are one to two months behind.Your overdraft balance has been greater than your overdraft limit for one to two months.
Cheques, direct debits and standing orders may have been bounced to keep the account in order.
Which one(s) apply in your case?

Yorkshire boy - very useful info, thank you!
yes it is a '1' but its on my loan account, not my current account, but im going to check again with equifax!0 -

oh yes youre right - it is on my current account not my loan..
but it says " 1 payment"s" 1 month in arrears; 0 payment"s" 2 months in arrears; 0 payment"s" 3 or more months in arrears."
well i dont think i am one month in arrears at all! - a total of 8 days over my overdraft! ( 5 of those were waiting for BM's reply!) 2 days were weekends and the first day i was over is the day i found out.
DD's were bounced, but thats all because of HSBC charging me on top of charges etc!0 -

Which (almost certainly) means you weren't managing your finances properly.
You allowed the charges to mount month on month.
But it's all the big bad bank's fault.
Wow, how unbelievably, unnecessarily rude of you.
Unless youve been in my situation, you cannot POSSIBLY make any kind of judgement, you simply dont have enough knowledge to do so, though you obviously think you do.
The bank refunded my charges. ALL OF THEM. that should be good enough for you.0
