Contract problems with O2

I have been with O2 for about 10 years now on the personal tariffs and PAYG but decided to upgrade to business. I knew what phone I wanted and the most I was willing to pay so looked around.

All the companies seemed to offer similar deals (£25 + VAT for 300ish mins, 100 texts, 500mb internet and free UK landline calls) with the phone (HTC Desire) offered for free.

Based on this I decided to stick with O2 so that I did not have to be without my number even for a short time and also because I have never had a problem with network coverage on O2 either and I couldn't be as certain with any other network.

I tried to put the deal through on O2's website but it wanted to charge me £85 for the phone despite on the business home page it stating that it was free on all tariffs. I called to query it and was told it was a mistake but that a note would be made on my file that they confirmed the website was showing that and when I called back I would be able to get the web deal over the phone with the phone for free as I couldn't obviously put it through on the website.

When I phoned back I was told that the business department were not able to access my records etc so I have explained it all again and thought the guy had understood what I was asking for and had signed me up correctly.

I had to phone in a couple of days later about something only to find out whilst I had been given the phone for free I had not been given the web deal as promised but upgraded.

I have been backwards and forwards with them a lot over the last 4 weeks to the point where one department I was told to email have still not responded to me after 2.5 weeks!!

The situation as I understand it at the moment is (and I am being told there is nothing they can (I read this as will!) do to make it any better) that I get the 300 mins, 100 texts for £25 per month plus VAT. I had had a bolt-on (not requested by me as the web deal comes with 500mb as part of the package) added and one of the people I spoke to said he would add a permenant credit to my account each month to cancel it out but the bolt on is costing me £8.51 and the credit is for £6.97 both before VAT and apparently I am not entitled to the UK landline calls (even though their new tariffs say it is for web and telesales customers only) but that I can pay for yet another bolt on!

I have not been sent anything in writing to sign nor have I even been sent terms and conditions or anything remotely legal from them to confirm what they have tied me into for 2 years.

I would prefer not to cancel the contract and go else where right now but I do want them to charge me the correct amount for the contract I specifically requested and am now getting stonewalled with "We can't do that".

They are basically telling me in order to get the deal I had requested in the first place I need to pay a further £10 +VAT per month!

Not really sure where to go from here as I feel I'm getting nowhere.
