45 days on Paypal, not sure on Amazon. I'd get rid the moment they leave feed back

  • if the receipt has the price of posting on it maybe prudent to keep it at least six years or whatever the income tax rules are.

You may regret that one day.

You need to keep it 6 months for paypal. A fraudulent use of a credit card claim can be chargebacked up to 6 months. Proof of posting is the way to defend this.

    Please no....

Positive feedback doesn't mean anything, the buyer still has 45 days to do a straight forward paypal chargeback for item not received. They also have 180 days to do a claim for fraudulent use of a card. So any seller who wishes to make sure they are fully protected on ebay must keep POPs for 180 days at least.

I should hope not on 200 sales, but why risk it? I didn't have my first 'claim for fraudulent use of a card' until I was well into 4 figures selling wise, but as I could prove I sent the item I didn't lose my money.

    Good point.
What about courier delivery, as I use them quite a bit for my larger items, I don't get a physical receipt from them, would the tracking number be sufficient?

As long as it shows the buyers address. Any online tracking would have disappeared by then so you need proof the item was sent to the PP address.
