Bought a Macbook from the Mac refurbished store, got the base model, 2.13ghz, so pleased with it. I think it was brand new, packaging was unopened. Use it as our main home computer, just bought the Applecare 3 year warranty for £50 on Ebay. Liked the look of the Mac mini but needed portability.

Are you a student? If not take one with you, you will get a discount. When we got ours we got a student discount, free ipod, free printer and free 12months one to one tuition from the apple store(deal with the manager)

I would not go back to pc.

It was an offer going on in store at the time. The printer was free and the Ipod was for student purchases, they had to be paid for and then I sent in a claim form and they sent a cheque. The one to one 12 months tuition was thrown in by the manager I also got 1/2 price Excel software.
Negotiate with the manager. My BIL got 10% off just by negotiation.
I also took out the 3yr warranty cover and got a discount on that as well.

If you don't ask you don't get - you have nothing to lose by trying.

I bought it in my name (had my son with me but he has a different name anyway).

If you are not a student - find someone who is!!

(The IPod offer is called Back to School and runs until sept 7th I think) Can't see anything about the free printer at the moment though - but worth asking in store - say your friend got one and has recommended you to go there)

    OMG I did it!

Yea Poppy thanks for the info. I probably should've haggled for cheaper deals over the phone but I am really pleased I was able to get the student discount on the imac and various other bits and bobs (software, extended warranty) and the other stuff on rebate. I just need someone to mop my brows as I was papping my pants doing the transaction on the phone. :o

(the ipod and printer rebate were both on offer but only if you buy a mac).

thanks so much for your help.

Not yet, I am still dithering! :o

I think you have made a good choice. The newly updated iMac is the best value of the lot, especially so with the student discount. :)
  • i8change...

DO IT!!! I am just waiting for mine to arrive.

But I don't think I will get the chance to unpack and play with it if it doesn't arrive by early afternoon today as I am going to work for the next fortnight. :(

I guess this time round I will have something to look forward to on my return! :p

Let us know how you get on! :A

    Hi Poppy,

When you claimed for your ipod and printer rebate how did you do it? Did you post them in the same claim because don't you need to peel the original stickers off and put them on the form to claim?
My point is are there enough stickers to peel off to cover both claims?

    Thank you.

    Just read this
Up to five (5) rebates per receipt or web order number may be claimed based on the number of qualifying products purchased. A maximum of five (5) rebates per household may be claimed

So to clarify do you claim on one form?
