howtogeek microsoft money plus is now available for free
You should get to the 'How TO Geek' website of which I am a frequent user (yes I know - geek alert) Where they have a nice article which reads as follows:
"Last year, Microsoft stopped making new versions of Microsoft Money, their personal money management software package—and now they’ve made it available for everybody for free… well, sorta.
The new “Sunset” versions were created so that existing customers could continue to install MS Money without requiring activation, but that also means anybody can download and install it."
The How To Geek post links to the a site called 'Get Rich Slowly' (again sorry can't post the link), a site of which I was not aware, but looks quite interesting in itself!?
Apparently Money Plus Deluxe Sunset is designed to replace Essentials, Deluxe and Premium, and Money Plus Home & Business Sunset is designed to replace Home & Business.
I've used MS Money for a long time now and have always found it easy to use (if you can excuse the American bias); it has been discontinued by Microshaft for some time now, but continues to work just fine without updates. The best way to use it with statements is to download them locally, then import them to Money, rather than use any 'connect to your bank' feature within Money. Obviously your bank needs to be able to supply you with Money friendly statement downloads and not all do.
I have not replaced my old version with either of the new versions yet so no reports of any differences. Might get a chance this weekend and will report back if I do.
Have fun

Is it not the US version??0

I don't care if you're a bloke or a woman, old or young, but you get a whacking great smacker from me:kisses::kisses::kisses::kisses::kisses::kisses::kisses::kisses::kisses::kisses:Just simply because I love msmoney so much and was worried that they'd stop supporting it or that it may become totally obsolete, or worse still that it would stop working all together. This now gives me hope that it won't.
I've tried Quicken and a lot of the other similar programmes but Money is the one for me. so thanks
Gush over sorry0 -
I don't use MSmoney any more, but when I did, it was a brilliant program and i'd recommend it to anyone!0

Great find - thank you!0

Remember you can only convert US data, it can't handle old data from regional versions, eg UK, according to the quoted Microsoft website.0
-
That is quite correct I'm afraid.
It is the US version only and will not open or convert UK files (due to Fiscal rules enbodied in the programme/file)
This is very bad news for someone like myself who has to keep an old windows xp machine (still the best o/s they ever made but that's another story) jyust to keop my money files available for tax inspection.
My versions of money don't work on vista (what does?)
So it looked like a great idea but.....
.....doesn't actually work or so it seems.
I have tried renaming the file but that doesn't work either..if you find a workaround please let me know!0 -
You can export each account as a quicken file (.QIF) and then import it into the new Money Plus - works ok and the new Money Plus does not install over the old money install.
The american categories are a pain but you can live with "cell phone" "gasoline" etc0 -
I have used Microsoft Money (UK) for years and love it - so easy. However, I have never had an update. Has there ever been any available? eg I have no switch card option. I have to enter it manually. My default setting for expenditure is still ''cheque''!0

The simple bill interface on money offers cheque, does your verson have an advanced option as this enables direct debit etc.0
