Help! I want to change my contract phone

Good Afternoon,

I took out a Motorola Milestone on 24 month contract with Orange in March 2010.

I want a DELL STREAK instead.

What are my options ?

Buy a Streak sim free from Dell, Orange don't do them and put your sim in it. Or pay off your Orange contract and go to O2.

Thanks ....will I have full functionality from the DELL STREAK using my ORANGE contract SIM considering ORANGE do not offer that handset ?

As long as you have a data bundle on your acc for it to connect through and as you say you have a Milestone I'm guessing that you have. I'm not aware of anything apart from that, that a Streak needs?

Yes I have a 500Mb data allowance within my tariff per month on ORANGE....(wish it was more...had to buy a £5 bolt-on last month cause I went over my data allowance)....would I get the updates both firmware and to OS (I believe O2 are pushing 2.1 onto the device next month and 2.2 is to come) over the air or would I have to get the updates downloaded directly from DELL website?...thanks for your help by the way really appreciate your advice...

If it's a sim free Streak from Dell, you'd get the upgrade from Dell I guess.

If you bought it through O2 I don't know if they've 'branded' it. If they have you'll have to wait for them to release it (or root it and use the vanilla firmware). If it's not O2 branded then you should get it almost as soon as it's released. I know with the 2.2 upgrade for the Desire their rolling it out area by area to save stain on their servers. . .

Just spok to ORANGE...the DELL Streak is not on the list of phones they will be offering soon....but if they do start offering it then they would sell me a locked one on ORANGE and I would be free to sell my Milestone to fund that purchase. I then can put my ORANGE SIM in the Streak and use it.
