Vodafone Contract ending soon, advice needed.

Hi my contract is ending in 2 months and i got my july bill last night to notice that Vodafone had removed my discount, raising my bill by £10.

Im paying £15 a month for 100 minutes and 50 texts any network with internet (id say unlimited but who knows). So last night the bill was £25, i called up and had the discount put back on and was advised to phone up at the end of the month to arrange a new contract/upgrade, whatever.

Now I barely use my phone, I think 7 minutes and about 10 texts in july, its purely a case of someone can get hold of me anytime anywhere if im needed.

Id love an iPhone, frankly I don't see any point in having mobile internet access without something like that anyway, plus I'm an Apple fanboy, but obviously not going to get one for £15 a month.

I think £15 a month for that tariff is steep, £25 is extortionate, so what do you guys suggest I do?

I'm open to most suggestions, I do need a new phone, this sony C510 is a piece of crap and its dying on its legs. I dont mind shelling out for a new handset to avoid getting caught in a subsidy contract either.

Thanks

David

Minor point but your contract does not end, you just hit the end of the mimum term, it will roll on on a 30 day notice period.

With the use you have I'd say go PAYG. You could by an iPhone on o2 on PAYG and get a years internet access (subject to whatever T&C they have) and pay far less than your paying now, if you need to stay on Voda they don't do the iPhone on PAYG but calls on PAYG Vodafone are 20p a minute, texts are 10p each. Your July use would be £2.40.

If July is your average, then you'll be paying around £30 in use over a year. As your paying £15 a month at the moment over a year thats £180. You could buy a decent phone for the £150 you are saving.

HOWEVER if you want to use the web in most cases thats extra and usally 50p or so a day, all providers do a monthly add on, depends how much you use the web to it being worthwile to you.

The Iphone is not the cheapest option but you said you would like it. Alternativly whatevers on offer in the supermarket at the time you visit really...

Thanks Gj, I'm not precious about staying with vodafone. So a payg iPhone on o2 might just be the ticket.
