Airport Lounges

The other (morally questionable) way to enter is to buy a fully flexible business class ticket with BA on the day of travel, use the lounge, then cancel your ticket and get a full refund.
All the BA lounges I have used have been "airside" - so to gain access you have to have checked in for your flight and passed through security. To "cancel your ticket" at this stage, and "get a full refund" is nigh on impossible.0 -
You can cancel right up until departure on fully flex tickets.Legal team on standby0

That's what I do when I used to fly out of MAN T2. Was business with US Air once and got access to one of the lounges. There was 1 spare seat (full of people off to Cancun). It was noisy, messy and not at all relaxing. I normally go to one end of the terminal, find an empty gate and sit down there. If you do get there early and want somewhere really quiet, go down to the gates in the extension area. Unless there is a flight leaving from there, you could have an area the size of the lounge to yourself!
Unless you're thinking of having 3 or 4 beers lounges are definitely not worth it IMHO0 -
i have booked escape T1 Manchester for next sunday i think its worth it for the drinks and snacks we are flying in the evening and will be there as soon check in opens so probably will get good 2 hours in:beer:

Whenever ive flown, ive always been prepared to take food with myself. Usually picking up a Subway en-route to the airport. £1.99 sub & a bottle of coke.
Arrive at the airport, check-in then wait around in the outside bit. There is no real rush to head through to departures where you are trapped. I like some fresh air before a 5-6 hrs sat in a metal tube with recycled farts.
I'm one of these people who want to go through security with about 20mins to boarding, and be one of the last few on the aircraft.
Whats the rush?0 -
You cannot pay for access to the BA lounge at Gatwick, but there are other lounges you can pay for. Usually when you buy access to an airport lounge there is a maximum stay of 3 hours.
And there is also a big difference between the BA lounges and the ServisAir (or whatever other company) ones which charge per entry.
The BA ones are typically very good while the "public" ones are often little more than a waiting room with a fridge at one end. I get BA lounge access as I have Silver Exec Club card as I fly a lot with work - it's a great perk and I miss it when not flying BA, but I typically don't bother paying to get in the other lounges.Alias_Omega wrote: »I'm one of these people who want to go through security with about 20mins to boarding, and be one of the last few on the aircraft.

I like going through security as soon as possible and head straight to the bar/lounge. Waiting until 20 mins before boarding would stress me out as I'd be worried about getting stuck and missing the flight and having to run to the gate. That would be a rush.0 -
From the website it looks as if you have access to 130 lounges around the world. If you buy a sandwich and a cup of coffee at the airport you will be lucky to get change from a tenner so I would say £16 is a fair price as it usually includes alcoholic drinks. I used to have a Diners Club Card just for the free lounge access but they cut it right back so I dumped the card.

Where did you get this info from?
I am considering applying just to get this benefit...0 -
We used the Lounge at Dalaman airport a few weeks when we got to the airport and discovered we had a delay of nearly five hours on out 22:00 flight back to the UK. It meant we had somewhere relatively quiet to try to get some sleep. There was also some PCs and food and drink. It was nothing special and nothing like the quality of the Business Class lounges we have had used in the past.
For that reason I wouldn't normally pay for them, but as an 'emergency' they're fine0
