no domain box
just username and password

no internal It guy - do have someone we can bring in - but I thought I was maybe juts being stupid and there was an easy fix

Try to log in as: administrator and press enter without password. If PC hasn't been set up with password you will get in. You can then go to users and passwords in control panel and reset the password for your log on.

Yes I did Espresso. I assumed that it was the windows login that baldfrog is having trouble with. If not it would be a password set up in BIOS to prevent user from booting up. I set up all my Company laptops this way to make life a bit harder for thieves, although anyone with a little knowledge will be round it like a shot.

I also set up all the Company PCs with a universal log in for Windows without a password so that anyone can just press enter to log in. This account is restricted and users are not allowed to change password, download programmes or make system changes.
The administrator account is of course securely passworded but there may be a chance that baldfrog's is not.
