Can anyone recommend a non-aluminium one?
Currently use Sure, but I'm a bit concerned about the findings that aluminium-based sprays may contribute to breast cancer.
I'd like to find a natural alternative, but it HAS to be anti-perspirant - i hate the wet feeling you get with just deodorant.

The tea-tree oil one is ok if you like the smell of it, they have a 'floral' one if you don't.
Not sure if I've ever seen aluminium free sprays.0 -
Try looking in holland & barrett - i use these and none of them contain aluminium (they are cheap as well)0

I might be wrong but i think it is the aluminium that makes it anti perspirant. This in turn block the pores and this has been linked to cancer and alzeiheimers.0

Yep, aluminium is replaced by zinc in the aluminium-free ones.0

Some links from the OS board for you about deodorants:

There's quite a bit of contention over whether aluminium in anti-perspirants increases your risk of developing breast cancer. Unilever has a link on their site to a piece of research that said there was no connection, but this was a 2002 article. Since then there has been recent research linking aluminium to affecting oestrogen activity.
Aluminium is considered a toxin if ingested but zinc isn't. Given this, especially if there is a history of breast cancer in the family, perhaps the zinc based alternatives would be a good idea.
NOTE: If your rubbing those weird 'crystal' things on your armpits then check the ingredients as most of those contain aluminium too.0 -
Can't use normal deodrants due to an allery - has anyone used these stones is so are thye any good and where did you get them from?
Thanks in advance0 -
I have been using them for a couple of years. I bought mine off ebay for 99p which was a bargain, they sell for about £5 now, you can buy branded ones such as pit rock (sp?) in health shops. They don't stop you perspiring, but stop the odour developing, I have found them as effective as sprays and very economical, I have two one in my travel bag and one for everyday, I dropped one and smashed some off, but other than that they look like they will last for years. You also don't get the dreaded white marks on your clothes.0

I've had mine for about 6 months. I've used it every day and it doesn't look any different. I bought mine off ebay too for about £3. I've found it to be very effective on most days but on the odd really hot day I've had to also use something as a back up.2008 Comping ChallengeWon so far - £3010 Needed - £230Debt free since Oct 20040
