Anti-perspirant deoderant (Merged)

I've got one too and think it's brilliant! I bought mine in USA about two and half years ago and it's still only half it's original size. I bought one on e-bay for my daughter as I like mine so much. Health shops also seem to have something similar although it's in roll up stick form rather than the stone.0

I didn't find it very effective when I tried one, but maybe I'm particularly smelly? I use a Tom's of Maine natural deodorant.0

As we currently have a thread running about deodorants, I'll merge this one in to it0

i use the deoderants from lush (especially aromacreme, which is skin-softening) as they contain little in the way of chemicals and are also very packaging-light.
if one is very, very active (tae kwon do class, say) or it's really, really hot, one might feel a little damp, but due to the bicarbonate of soda the deoderants contain, one dries v fast.
it's not perfect, but it's a good price and doesn't fill one full of really damaging chemicals.

Except for parabens, which have been linked to breast cancer and are confirmed to create oestrogenic activity.
"..For example, the cosmetics industry has long stated that their widespread use of parabens and phthalates is not harmful because they remain on our skin and are not absorbed into our body. However, a recent study found parabens in human breast cancer tissue, raising obvious questions about the ability of parabens to accumulate in our bodies (Darbre et al. 2004)."

Unfortunately Toms of Maine were bought out by colgate, so if you are an ethical shopper you may not want to buy their products. Depends on your stance I suppose.

My mistake. :>
It's the liquid products that contain the parabens. And come in plastic bottles - more reason to avoid the liquid products. :>ॐ Signature Removed by Someones Mum. ॐ0 -
always important to check ingredients wherever one shops.
pick'n'choose the products without the nasties :-)Boyfriend & I have saved £12K in two years, thanks to careful budgeting and keeping a record of what we spend. I've never paid myself this amount of money before - it feels great!0 -
Lemonburst.co.uk sell a crystal deodorant stick in a travel size for a couple of pounds and I have a feeling they do free p&p too....it is not of more importance than daily life, which I have an enduring wish to make as useful and beautiful as possible.

I have been using a crystal deodorant happily for some time, my family wouldn't use them, so concerned about them using aluminium ones I purchased some toms of maine sticks last week, decided to try them out myself to prove to them that they work and have to say they are great. I did one underarm with dove roll on and the other with toms and the toms worked better than the dove :T . For anyone who doesn't get on with the crystals I think it would be worth trying.0
