Plusnet and line re-connection

Hi I have a line which has been deactivated since 2006 (by BT) in my home and I'm thinking about shortly taking up Plusnet's phone and broadband package. As its been so long since this line's been used I cannot find the phone number it had (and I cannot remember it ) :(

I am wondering will Plusnet charge me to re-activate this line and if so how much will it cost? Also will I need to find the number I used to have to advise them or is there a way of finding it out as I think I've done the stupid thing of throwing the old BT bills out (as its been so long) :o or will I be given a new telephone number?

When I sign up what will I need to pay on my first installment? Am I right in saying that I just pay £11.49 for first 3 months (im outside they're low value area) for broadband and the line and additional costs for the router (p&p)?

Thanks in advance :)

Do Not under any circumstances join Plusnet, next to talk talk theyr'e probably the worst isp in the UK.

In the 5 months I've been with them I have had to complain no less than 24 times for faults ranging from low line speed to no connection at all. Their tech support is uninterested in resolving issues and merely mark time till they can kick any probs to BT. Oh couple that with aggressive and rude sales and support staff and you get some idea of Plusnet.

Each and every time I have a fault they threaten me with a £144+vat BT callout and its only when I agree to that I find the line miraculously heals itself before they arrive!

Last Sunday my line went out and has been out since, so am having to use mobile broadband at £2.00 per day. Will I get this money back? Dont think so.. Will I get a refund for loss of service? Dont think so...

Did I mention the extremely harsh traffic shaping, the unnaturaly high contention ratio or the hidden charges that mean average costs of phone and broadband spiral towards £30 per month?

And if you think it might just be my bad luck have a look at the plusnet members forum, 90% of the posts there are complaints.

My advice.. Get a post office line, its month to month contract with no installation costs, then either a) sign up with Sky tv and broadband deal.. or join 02 broadband wait a month and then get 02 home phone and broadband.

    Good luck

  • Fantastic.

I've just switched from TalkTalk to Plusnet!!

    Frying pan into fire ........????

Good news is I'm not in a contract - just going month to month to try them out first.

I've been with Plusnet for phone and broadband for the last 4 months and I can't fault them. I was with Virgin media ADSL before them and that was dire. I am on a non unbundled exchange and my Internet speeds are great. The switch over including phone went very smoothly.

Been with Plusnet since April and only had faults a couple of time. Once in April there was a big problem with exchanges near Paddington and they had a whole region down and a couple of times since I've had 24hr outages which they've asked BT to investigate (no mention of costs) and I've been back up the next day.

Never had a problem with their customer services and they have always been polite and helpful.

(although I do currently have no usage showing up in my usage tracker - will be contacting them monday if not resolved).
