No flak, just a quick correction. Iphone is on it's 4th iteration in 4 years - not just a couple. Iphone 5 (or whatever they decide to call it) will more than likely be announced in June 2011 & released in July. Nokia, Samsung et al release more phone models a year than Apple, who concentrate on one.

One phone release a year doesn't seem excessive to me - it's just a shame that most of the networks won't let you have a 12 month contract with one!

Actually, the Iphone was announced in January 2007 and the iPhone went on sale in the United States on June 29, 2007.

So, we were both out by a year. 4th model in 3 years and, as said above, there is only one Iphone range as such whereas all the other manufacturers have different ranges for different markets - even Blackberry.

Ive got an 8900 now. Its okay, emails are brilliant, calls and texting is easy however the amount of applications is disappointing, and the phone is very "serious" and doesnt really have a fun side. Browsing is also a chore with the BB browser, I find it slow and generally hard to use.

The iPhone is a cracking phone guys- it would not sell in such numbers if it was no good. Yes they market it, but they market what they sell very very well and its working. They do overprice though which is a shame, I mean the HTC Desire for example is a better specced phone, and has equally good reviews for £100 to £200 less in places. This is on SIM only, and on contracts the savings are equally as large!

Apple are a very clever business- they make people want their products, however if they marketed a poor product then the company would fall down. Apple is huge- so obviously its doing something right!

You are probably a marketers dream target

Produce a phone, tell everyone that it has more Apps than other phones and that makes it better.

Would it occur to anyone that 99% of the iphone Apps are sh1te, and the other 1% are available for other phone OS's?

As for Apple "making people want their products" ..... is Lemmings available on the iPhone?

You know, it just clicked. Stuff getting an iPhone- I will just buy an iPod touch. Same apps as the iPhone for a fraction of the cost...

But at the "cost" of carrying two devices with you, and you'll only be able to use the internet gadgets on the touch when you are in range of a Wifi spot.

As long as your happy with this thats fine. I carry my phone and a work PDA/organiser with me most of the time it's no big hassle.

Yep, I have a Touch and a Blackberry and it's a real pain in the !!! in the gym.

I have upgraded the music player on my Bold and tend to only carry that now.

Yes but there are poor features also, Apple do not do the basics very well IMHO

    Battery- pants! even on standby
Camera - pants! (slightly better on 4 but still behind times)
Alarm - pants! 10 years ago i can understand a phone needing to be on for the alarm to work but these days naw! So apple lets get the basics right before you add the cool stuff!
Texting - pants! T9 is far quicker but like how it adds punctuation
Importing contacts - pants! Apple like to be different and not use memory cards so its not a simple 2 min job to get contacts from one phone to the other, either transfer it all to SIM (if they all fit and now you can't on iphone 4) or sync the thing.
In-car bluetooth - pants! what is the point of recieving a call and having to fiddle with the damn thing to tell the phone where you want the sound output? Speaker/phone/car. Try explaining that one to a copper!

How these let downs have changed on iphone 4 i don't know however

The Iphone is a great phone but don't let your clear love of the Apple brand cloud your objectivity
