Hi!
I'm afraid i don't have much advice on the job front but on the health thingy...have you had tests for underactive thyroid? Just a thought, but maybe if you persuaded the doc to test for this then he/she may get over the "ME doesn't exist" thing and start trying other avenues that could be the cause of the problem.
Do I make any sense?
Hope it gets better anyhoo0 -

I would just caution you though that you are very young to be looking at being a classroom assistant and if my local primary school is a guide, you will be up against much older people when you apply for jobs. Older more experienced people are employed by the school as classroom assistants for a variety of reasons not least the fact that they will have been exposed to the bugs that go around, they will be an older face in the classroom to help out younger teachers (ironic that teachers can start at around 22 but they take on older classroom assistants to help), they believe them to be more reliable.
I agree with everything Bossyboots has said. However i cannot agree with the above statement. I know Bossyboots has said that she/he is using their local primary as a guide but i have never worked in a school that prefers to use older people as LSA's or classroom assistants. I started off in my current school as an LSA at the age of 22 and am now a teacher there.
Schools however do not like poor records in terms of sickness (i know you cant help being sick) so get that sorted and prove you can give a job your all.
In terms of the teaching assistants course, is the NVQ or NCFE level 2? I did this a few years ago and its a fantastic course. An employer such as yours may be flexible in letting you go for 1/2 day or a day placement. I have known many people to get permanent paid jobs from placements and voluntary work. If you do decide to do the course and need any help or advice let me know!
