Thanks for your reply......As it happens I am currently on a DMP, although I do pay a monthly fee for it, but I had issues with a payday lender and more than anything wanted to let off steam and warn other people about them!!!

Is there anyway my original post can be deleted?

Cheers Handy. I might try and get it going now, so it'll be nice and ready for xmas baking.

I love lamb and I love lavender... wonder if I can throw the two in the sc and let them make friends!

I've just been looking into having a party for my 30th in January and found a venue for £40, could well be a goer. And a great excuse for lots of dfw'ers to get together.
Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.

Hey Ames, just found this one as I was looking for the lamb recipe.

    apple tart with lavender cream
dessert recipes | serves serves 10-12
1 Peel, core and roughly chop 2 apples. Place in a saucepan with butter and cook over moderate heat for 20 minutes or until soft and of a pur!ed consistency. Allow to cool.
2 Peel, core and quarter remaining apples, then cut into thin slices.
3 Preheat the oven to 200C/gas 6. Roll pastry out to 3mm thick then, using a large dinner plate as a guide, cut out a 30cm-diameter circle. Place on lightly greased baking tray and score an inner circle 1½cm from the pastry edge to prevent rising. Spread the pur!e over the inner circle of the base and place the remaining apple slices in a tight concentric circle. Beat the egg with 1 tbsp water and brush the pastry edge with the egg wash. Sprinkle the tart with 1 tbsp sugar, then bake for 20 minutes.
4 While tart is cooking, heat 3 tbsp sugar and 3 tbsp water over a medium heat in a small saucepan until the sugar dissolves and mixture reduces a little and becomes syrupy.
5 For lavender cream, combine honey and crème fraîche in a bowl. Just before serving, sprinkle with lavender flowers.
6 Remove tart from oven, brush with sugar syrup, then turn up oven to 220C/gas 7 and cook for a further 10 minutes or until top begins to caramelise. Remove from oven and leave to cool. Dust with icing sugar and serve with lavender cream.

I may try this one myself. It's a Jamie Oliver dish.
I never said did I, I'm only a few miles away from old Hugh Fernliegh Eatitall's place. £3.50 in his shop for a sausage roll:eek::eek::eek:
Actually there are two more famous TV chefs and several Actors within a 10 mile radius but that would be too much info.
I will carry on looking for the Lamb dish.
    Cheers, handy.

    Method
    1. Preheat the oven to 200°C/gas 6.

    2. Season the lamb with salt and freshly ground pepper. Spread the Dijon mustard evenly over the lamb.

    3. Mix together the chopped chervil, thyme, rosemary and mint. Roll the lamb evenly in the mixed herbs, then wrap it in the pig's caul., cover with Dijon mustard then roll in the mixed herbs and wrap it in the pig's caul.

    4. Heat the olive oil in a heavy-based roasting tray over the hob. Add the lamb and cook until golden brown on all sides.

    5. Transfer the lamb to the oven and roast for 7 minutes, turning frequently.

    6. Meanwhile, mix the grated potato with the lavender and clarified butter. Season with salt and freshly ground pepper.

    7. Heat a heavy-based frying pan. Place the potato mixture inside a round cutter in the pan and fry until golden. Turn over, cook briefly, then remove from direct heat and keep warm.

    8. Remove the lamb from the roasting tray, rest and keep warm. Spoon off the excess fat from the roasting tray.

    9. Place the tray over a high heat on the hob. Add the sherry vinegar, scraping vigorously to de-glaze the pan, and cook briskly until reduced.

    10. Add the lamb jus, bring to the boil and add the unsalted butter and the diced tomato.

    11. Place the potato cake in the centre of a plate. Slice the lamb into 2 equal portions and place on either side of the potato cake. Spoon over the lamb jus sauce. Garnish with rosemary sprigs and serve at once.

This is more fun than arguing with wanabee troll's.

Kidding, going to eat now and then back for the serious stuff.:D

Hi 3Dogs, well done at the car boot. I haven't decided if I will do one this week or not.

MIL now has a permanent place in a Nursing home. The Doctor and District Nurse came to see her this morning. The Doc told Mrs H that her mum looked in better shape than her. Although there is a Night sitter, If she needs to get up it takes 2 to help her as she's so frail. She has also turned day into night, so no one else gets any chance of sleep.

The Doc said he would get SS to visit and fast track her. By 4.30 there was an ambulance to collect her. She has only moved 1/2 a mile from where she lives so that's not bad.

She put up a fight when told what was happening, that's left Mrs H gutted. I have told her it's for the best. I will admit I love my MIL, the old trout!! but it really is for the best. As I told Mrs H, in a week she won't remember being anywhere else.

Mrs H is staying on Oop North for another week or two until she's sure that things have settled. I hope that we can get back on track in a couple of weeks, its been tough.

    Cheers all, handy.

  • Evening everyone,

Hope you have all had a good day despite the weather, it hasn't been too bad here just a couple of heavy showers.

Enjoyed the swim with GD, well she can't swim yet but is getting more confidence in the water. Lots of wiggling koalas around today, mind you he is cute, and lots of tasty recipes to try. I used to do a lot of cooking but I can't be bothered so much now. Every now & again I'll have a little spurt but the trouble is I always cook way too much and it gets wasted, which is what I'm trying to stop doing.
I must stop procrastinating, I must stop procrastinating! promise I'll stop tomorrow OK:D

  • Hi Handy,

Glad to hear things have been sorted for your MIL - your poor wife must be exhausted, physically and emotionally. She will be able to relax when she gets back home, it's been a tough ride for you all.

Update from Niddy tonight re his daughter:

    Hi All

Hope you're all well. We've just got back from hospital and my baby can come home tomorrow if she's better so i've got everything crossed.....

she has made a remarkable recovery over the last few days - amazing fighting spirit... it seems to be since they removed the tubes that were sticking out her side! Anyone not scared of goryness - i'll post a pic hehe - its minging like!!!

Niddy family is happy as can be right now... chuffed Nid off to the pub! So thanks for all your concern, it really does mean a lot to all of us.

    The Niddy family xxx

    Follow-up posting:
    I know - well chuffed icon_beer.gificon_beer.gif

Miss Niddy was soooo pleased when consultant said it is healing fine and there is now no need for a 3rd op (as at today) but she needs 3 months to recouperate. Funny cos we are utilising disctict nurse, why not - we pay £3k per month in tax so earned it!! She needs that daily for at least 6 weeks plus regular hospital visits... but hey, we can have her home yey!! icon_rolleyes1.gificon_rolleyes1.gificon_rolleyes1.gif

    So we have good news at last :T :T :T :T :T :T :T :T

    The original message by Pania:A

    Hi everybody.

Over the last few weeks we have had a number of "troll" attacks on the boards.

What is a Troll? A troll is a person that posts deliberately provocative, nasty or hurtful comments on threads. They may be a person with no previous connection to the board or someone that has created a pseudonym to get their point made.

If you should get a comment made on any thread you post asking for help and advice please realise this comment is not directed at you personally.
We really are all a lovely bunch here (oops, modest, sorry) so please ignore these nasty comments and continue to post here as normal.

what should i do if i get a comment made on my thread?

firstly do not respond to the comment as this invariably is what the person wants. At the bottom of the post, on the left hand side is a red "warning" triangle. Click this and then "send" the message that comes up. This will report the message to abuse who will review it's content and delete it.

The person we had this morning was particularly vile and nasty and please believe me is an extreme rarity here.
Above all PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DO NOT LEAVE THE BOARDS. THIS SITE IS AN ASSET TO SO MANY, ESPECIALLY WHEN IT FEELS THE WORLD IS FALLING IN ON YOU. THERE IS SUCH A WEALTH OF ADVICE HERE TO BE HAD THAT THE COMMENTS OF ONE MUST NOT DETER YOU FROM AVAILING YOURSELF OF THE KNOWLEDGE HERE!!!!

It is testament to the work that martin has done and continues to do that so many people give their time knowledge and experience freely to others, without judgement, to lift people out of the depths of debt crisis

PLEASE DO NOT LET THE ACTIONS OF THE MINORITY RUIN THAT.

    Kind wishes
    P

    Hi All

Please read the post above. This thread is to get across the message that if you are unlucky enough to encounter a nasty response then this is not typical and most people on here want to help, advise and support each other.

So to newcomers please stick around and wait for the good advice you are sure to get, and for the old timers as Handy reminded us yesterday lets just remember how vulnerable and desperate some people are when they first post and act with some care in our responses.

We try to keep this thread on the first page all the time and to ensure that the message above is at the top of each new page. The random posts and chatter in between are just to keep this thread visible to all. Feel free to join in but rememeber the most important part is to report the trolls (and spammers) and give good advice to newcomers on the DFW forum (and elsewhere as well!).
