Quelle surprise!!!!Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0

Maybe that is why Talk Talk are calling customers at the moment, offering them to upgrade their packages?0

'It means a 60-minute call during the day to a UK landline will cost £3.94 instead of £3.57. Those who make an hour-long daytime call every working day will pay around £100 more a year in increased call and rental charges.'
What a daft way of putting it! So instead of the call time costing 893 quid it will cost 985 quid. As if anyone pays 225 pounds per quarter on their phone bill and doesn't think 'hmmm, maybe I should change my telephone package to one with free minutes???'0 -
No surprises there then.;)0

Quite.
I have a legacy package with calls to international numbers and UK landline free 24/7 and free broadband with a flat rate charge of £10. They tried to up the fee last time and I told them to forget it as I have a binding contract.
They rang again today and then had the cheek to try and get me to verify who I was. I pointed out that he called ME and had to authenticate HIM and not the other way around. For instance he asked me for my phone number and address; I counter challenged and told him to tell ME my phone number and address.:p
Eventually he gave up. I then emailed Charles Dunsford the CEO, no reply yet.0 -

So since I joined talktalk about 18 months ago it seems:
the line rental has been increased
the call charges have been hiked twice
the time my evening calls apply to has been moved from 6pm to 7pm (don't tell me allowing me to have calls between 6am and 7am equalises it)
I've lost free calls to 0845 numbers
I've lost free anytime local calls
I wonder why I'm thinking of changing. Almost as bad as BT and Sky.0 -
does this apply to people that are in contract with talktalk0

You will get no reply from Charles Dunsford, he isn't the CEO, try Charles Dunstone.;)0
