Mobile Insurance - are they right???
I accidentally dropped my iPhone 2 days ago. It's not visibly damaged, but the touchscreen doesn't work rendering it useless.
I took it to carphone warehouse (who I have insurance on it with), and they looked it up. Apparently touchscreen is only covered by warranty (which I'm out of) so I need to pay for the repair.
So I could run it over with my car or drop it down the loo and have it repaired or replaced for free, but because it just doesn't work but still looks pretty, I have to pay £160.
Can't be right surely? It was accidental damage, enough to break something internal but not enough to crack a screen. Why does it matter if you can't see the damage?

Debt free (finally) and saving a deposit for my first home.

This is why mobile phone insurance is a complete rip off!! I've mentioned it many times before!!
Phone your home contents insurers. Tell them what happened. If you have "away from home" or "personal possessions" Cover (same thing - different names), they should pay for the repair or replace your phone.
If you don't have the cover, ask them for a quote for the future. I will be willing to bet my back teeth (which I am sick up to from telling everyone about this) that they will quote you LESS than you are paying for with your mobile insurance AND provide better cover!!!In the beginning, the universe was created. This made a lot of people very angry and was widely regarded as a bad move. The late, great, Douglas Adams.0 -

All of CPW's insurance policies cover accidental damage, and the above should be covered. Unfortunately it seems like you've been dealing with someone who doesn't know what they're talking about! Take it back to store and ask them again to make a claim for accidental damage, if they refuse ask them to call through to geek squad/lifeline whilst your in store and they should be able to clear everything up.0 -
Looks like another example of a mobile phone insurance policy not paying out.
Please take note of what Oscar said.0
