Selling iphone whist still in contract...Help please!!
Hi there and thanks in advance for any help.
I am in month 8 of a 2 year cotract on a iphone 3g with orange.
I could really do with selling this phone and getting something cheaper, but where do I start?
its locked to orange, so how do i get it unlocked and get it a new number?
Im not bothered about keeping the number for myself, but dont want friends ringing it, when it doesnt belong to me.
i will have to keep paying the contract, but dont want new owners charges.
Help!!

You'd keep the sim card (which is what the number is attached to) and just sell the phone. Then you just put the sim in the replacement phone you get.
I think Orange will only unlock at the end of the contract, but you can still sell it lock to Orange there are quite a few on Ebay. Orange aren't likely to let you change your monthly plan until you're at the 12 month point of a 2 years contract, so you might want to considered that before doing anything ??0 -
Phone orange, they will give you the unlock code for £20, there are unofficial methods but wont go into that, then just get a PAYG sim from any network and sell it, not sure how a cheaper phone will help as you are in a contract that is a set price and has nothing to do with the phone you use:beer:0

The phone and your contract are two separate things, take the SIM card out and sell the phone, the contract and phone number is linked to the SIM card. Then get a cheap orange PAYG phone and stick your SIM card in that, you carry on using your contract and number. The new iPhone owner would then sort out their own contract and SIM card.I've given up trying to get my signature to work with the new rules, if nobody knows what the rules are what hope do we have?0

I know it wont make my monthly fee any cheaper but it will give me a nice lump sum which i defo need at the mo.
Also my addiction to iphone apps has not been useful.
I seem to live in my iphone world or so i have been told anyway, so im thinking no iphone no problem.
thanks again
