  • Good morning Beanie

JMHO but your very understandable feelings aren't about shoes but about not being able to treat yourself. Is your budget so tight that there is no "me money" in there? If you could put a little bit of spending money to one side for yourself and then go shopping (or whatever else you fancy) you may find that by having a choice you decide to put the money towards a debt.

I'm a relative newcomer to this debt free idea but I know it will take a long time (it took a long time to spend!) so I have allowed myself a small "me" budget - so far I have managed to save it more weeks than spend it but I still feel like I am making the choice. I know being debt free is important but so is feeling good about life.

    Hope you soon feel better

Beanie - I get the same feeling but not with shoes, with CD's which are my biggest weakness. And then they went and opened a massive Fopp on Tottenham Court Road where I work, I can even see it from my window..... taunting me. And Fopp can be cheap as for CDs too but I still can't afford it .....<sigh>

Haha! I know what you mean Molanole - i'm on Oxford Street and from our office window can see a lot of pigeons, M&S, Virgin, HMV... ahhh. :(

And Beanie, be very proud of yourself for resisting so far... but I agree with Carolie and Dan - treat yourself in the next month or so if you've been good!
  • Right, that's it decided then - the £40 that have in one account from Mystery Shopping will be my treat money!

Now I have to decide what to buy.... I don't really want the shoes!

It does feel odd not just buying everything you want when you're first getting into the 'need or want' mentallity. I just had to beat myself into paying a couple of bills yesterday instead of blowing the money on some gadgets I'd seen in a sale.

Was painful at first, but now my money is gone, I know its gone and its taunting me less - plus I don't have the bills to stress about!

The mystery shopping = treat money idea sounds good. You have to treat yourself every now and then, otherwise you'd go insane!

If you make that a long term thing, you could have some money saved up for other sales / impulse treats?

Molanole, did you know you can buy a CD from fopp and if you "dont like it" you can take it back? So you can always erm listen to iut via your PC IYKWIM and then erm take it back? xx

Umm you need to be a bit careful what you're advocating here..... believe me, shops will catch onto this very quickly.

No point in buying a killer pair of heels if you can't afford to go out.

Oh, I don't know about that. If I have a rubbish day I often get dressed to kill and go to Asda to get the milk or even just to wash the pots. There's something very cheering about looking good for no reason other than because you can.

Of course if you have 300 pairs of killer heels, then that should be telling you something about the number of depressed days you have...
