Mobile phone upgrade not done correctly

I upgraded my mobile phone and plan 4 weeks ago in a high street phone shop, when my monthly DD was taken from my bank I thought it was a little high, but thought may be due to changing things half way through the month, I have looked at my online account from my mobile provider and noticed my plan is the same as before, it should have been changed to 500 mins, 3000 text and 500mb internet.... I called my provider who confirm that no upgrade has taken place, although I have a new phone in my hand, and I am liable for the internet usage.
My provider has told me I can upgrade and recieve a new phone which I am tempted to do as I dont really like the other phone. What I need to know is does the high street store have anyway of coming back on me, as it's clearly their error, or am I obliged to go into the store and get them to sort the upgrade out correctly and get them to pay my internet charges..

Get them to sort it out and deduct the charges, these things will always come back to bite when the carry out an audit.
