Forgetful Router!

I have a Echolife router that keeps forgetting its wep code. The computer with the router attached to it is fine but when I go to use my laptop which is on the wireless network it says' no connectivity' when i go back to the computer, log into the router and enter the same wep code as already shown it is fine! Its like its forgetting that it has the code every so often?
Any suggestions or do I just need a replacement router? Thanks for any help

    Vista?

Does the router support WPA? If so, switch to that, and make sure the laptop is set to connect when in range.

if this is one of those nasty echolife ones that talktalk were giving away until recently, it would seem to be a common problem - I've been out to three doing similar things (one of which was my mother-in-law's, t'was the end of the world to her :()

try and use the highest level of encryption common to both devices (as closed mentions, at least WPA if you can) and re-enter into the router and make sure you save the settings. Delete your existing wireless connection from control panel>network connections, and create a fresh one on the lappy. Should then be good to go..

I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple :D

    Hi MoneyMabel,

Can you confirm if you are a TalkTalk Customer?

If so and you are experiencing these issues it may be that the router has developed a fault and needs replacing.

If you register on the TalkTalk Members Forum (http://www.talktalkmembers.com/forums) we can investigate into this and diagnose any issues you may have.

You should not be using wep as it is shocking use WPA or above.
