Size limit for Easyjet checked in baggage?

I am flying tomorrow with Easyjet and have paid for 1 checked in piece of luggage, which is a suitcase.
Today I have bought a map, and when rolled up, and put in its container, is about 1.6m in length.
I am not sure, if I was to tape it to the side of the suitcase, if that would be OK to check in like that? It would off course be under 20kg, but the poster would be a lot longer then the suitcase.
Or would I need to pay for an extra piece of checked in luggage for 11 Euro?
As im flying tomorrow a quick reply would be appreciated, thanks!

To my knowledge, no size limit, just weight. I'd be careful that it doesn't get separated or mashed though (very likely - I think it was on here a relative told of the 'games' baggage handlers play, i.e. how much abuse can a hard case take).
Good luck.Certain OTT members have caused me to add this disclaimer: all advice given is free of charge & as such should be taken to be IIRC (as I don't spend hours researching all answers  )!0 -
It is in a hard case yes, I guess Ill just have to take the risk, its a 1hr flight so hopefully wont be too bad..
Ive searched around the net and cant seem to find any info on any size restrictions either...so Ill just tape it to the side and see what happens.
Thanks for the reply!0 -
Might even be worth taking the package to the security area & asking if they will let it through (before checkin, so that you can still revert to plan A), taking a small (very small) hand luggage bag & hoping easyjet let you on.Certain OTT members have caused me to add this disclaimer: all advice given is free of charge & as such should be taken to be IIRC (as I don't spend hours researching all answers  )!0

hi all, I am getting married abroad, travelling by easyjet and will be taking a kilt, (full outfit ie waistcoast jacket and kilt) it feels quite heavy, maybe 10kilos or more. it comes in a "suit bag". does anyone know if i can take that on easyjet as hand luggage??
any help would be gratrfully recieved
thanks0 -
Yes, provided it rolls/folds to 55X40X20cm, easyjet won't care about the weight.Certain OTT members have caused me to add this disclaimer: all advice given is free of charge & as such should be taken to be IIRC (as I don't spend hours researching all answers  )!0

Easyjet's hand luggage size is 56x45x25cm, they changed it several months agoYes, provided it rolls/folds to 55X40X20cm, easyjet won't care about the weight.

Thanks for that, however I think 55x40x20 is a government/CAA limit so may still apply.
EDIT: I sit corrected - dept. for transport have changed it & I never heard! http://www.belfastairport.com/en/content/3/80/security.html Lets hope they publicise it better if it goes the other way!Certain OTT members have caused me to add this disclaimer: all advice given is free of charge & as such should be taken to be IIRC (as I don't spend hours researching all answers  )!0 -
The standard for the legacy airlines has been 56x45x25cm - but that isn't imposed by any government but is a common size as it fits aircraft and most of the security apparatus can't handle anything bigger. Thanks for that, however I think 55x40x20 is a government/CAA limit so may still apply.
55x40x20 has never been a government imposed limit0 -
Alan, I think you are wrong on both counts - the link I posted shows the official nature of the limit & I am certain that it was 55x40x20.
Another link, stating that the limit is government enforced: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/5367096.stm
Edit: You may be correct on the 55x40x20 though - I'm certain I have been misled by an airline!Certain OTT members have caused me to add this disclaimer: all advice given is free of charge & as such should be taken to be IIRC (as I don't spend hours researching all answers  )!0
