*Update* Need to find a warm home and comfortable lap for 18 year old cat. Any ideas?

I also advocate asking neighbours near to where your Gran lives. It's going to be an awful wrench for both of them when they part company so trying to keep some familiarity in the cats environment will help to reduce the stress. Unless of course he's an indoor cat then it wouldn't be particularly important. Please let us know how you get on. Good luck!“You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”0

Thanks for all the very helpful replies everyone, extra special thanks to those who took the time to do some research on our behalf. Update is here, we've been away for a few days, so sorry for not responding.
The best possible outcome has happened in that my Grandma has agreed to a trial in the home and one of my cousins, her Grandson, is taking in the cat. She will be able to visit him and will, of course, get regular updates. I am so relieved it's all fallen in to place.0 -
