Should it be 'trialing' skimlinks as opposed to 'trialling'?

Wow, you have a real bee in your bonnet about post counts! A statement it may have been, but it was a very presumptious one and wrong. So you can climb down from your massive post count of 684 now! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
If you could spell presumptuous then I may take your constant accusations of presumption seriously...

Depends whether you want to spell it correctly or not.

Wow, epic levels of pedantry in this thread

Technically in UK usage it's trialling, trialing is US spelling according to Chambers. Not that it really matters.

LardyCake, I'm deliberately choosing not to be specific about such things during the MSE trial. Even after the trial I'm likely to consider it foolish to go into great detail here and refrain from doing so. Not particularly polite to my host either.

I was hoping you might reply by PM - but never mind, I'm sure I can work it out for myself.

    Hi all,

After listening to your feedback and discussing it with the team we've decided to remove Skimlinks from the Competitions forum. Do note though, existing Skimlinks will take a day or so to revert back to non-Skimlinks due to caching.

    Thanks

I only found this thread earlier today. I must have missed the email notifying me of such a major change.

I appreciate that MSE is a business, but I think the way this is being done - even if MSE HQ say its a trial - is wrong.

I only found out what was going on when I clicked to a link on the Grabbit forum, then later went back to the website I had visited, where for some reason (which I now assume is the Skimlinks thing), I was redirected to the original page I had been on.

I've read through this entire thread, admittedly briefly in places, but it seems to me that MSE are cashing in (especially on forums such as Grabbit) on having members do the hard work.

Am I missing something, or is this MSE capitalising on forum members doing the hard work, essentially giving them content and in turn revenue in return for paying nothing themselves?

Personally, and I don't like that I'm having to do this, but because of the browser experience i had, to me that means I'm not in 100% control of what I do with this website, so from now on when I see a link, I'm going to be opening a new window and just typing in the URL myself.
