Returning an unused item that never actually left the store...

Good Grief!
I'm really sorry I posted here.
Some of the replies are downright nasty.
Sad, just sad frankly.
Thank you to those who gave sensible advice. I've reported the abusive ones.
What do you expect from solicitors, accountants, people masquarading as accountants/solicitors, trainee accountacts/solicitors, people masquaraiding that they know the SOGA and consumer rights, etc that contribute to this forum ?
You have my sympathies. Do what I do and ignore them and do your own thing !
Great to see that you got a good result at the end.:T:rotfl::T0 -
Huge sigh of relief. I have definitely learnt my lesson about checking return policies before buying.
Good result. I learned the hard way about store refund policies (luckily on a relatively inexpensive item) and always check before making any non-trivial purchase.
I'm never obnoxious when I'm told that the store doesn't offer refunds and, in fact, upon politely explaining why I will make my purchase elsewhere, have - on a number of occasions - had the store manager state that they will, in fact, allow me to return the item for a refund (I have them note this on the receipt). In turn, I never abuse this concession.0
