Xdrive (AOL) is now letting anyone with an AOL screen name get 5GB storage for free.

I think anyone can get an Aol screen name these days. Just click through to sign up

As well as a web interface, there's also software that can do things like easy backup.

I've only just begun testing it. I think it might still be a little buggy sometimes

Has anyone managed to get registred from the UK?

I cant enter my UK address and phone without getting nowhere.

I didn't have a problem

I used an AOL screen name I got a while back when I tried out AOLs free email:

Since that's signing you up via a UK form, getting your screen name via that might work

i have now got a screen name but when i try to get xdrive setup im told i should change setting in parental controls but cant get to them. page error 440. Any ideas ?

who know what a "Master screen name" is ?

A Master Screen Name is either the first Screen Name you created when you joined AOL, or any other Screen Names that have been named as Master Screen Names using Parental Controls.

There seems to be a lot of errors. I can't get the desktop client to connect. I'm hoping it's just because they're overwhelmed and not because everything's completely buggy.

Where does it ask about Master Screen Names?
I have all that stuff because AOLs my ISP, but I deliberately signed up with an AOL account that anyone can get so I could make sure that this offer was open to everybody.

I got a screen name no prob with UK details, signed up, downloaded the desktop client and installed & connected without problem (after allowing relevant accesses in firewall obviously).
does seem buggy, what puts me off using it for anything meaningfull...

my ISP is tiscali just btw.

I'm back to using a dial up connection since Euro1Net went bust, but I signed up with Xdrive and backed up one small file, in readiness for my new Broadband provider to activate my line. Everything worked fine, although naturally a bit slow at 40kbps! Existing AOL Messenger screen name logged on first time. Will test on anger in a few weeks.
