Carcraft - Thought it was too good to be true!

Right Carcraft, don't get me started.
A few years ago I went to Carcraft, unaware or what a bunch of rotten shysters they are. Here are some of the tricks they played on me, we honestly thought they were a "normal" car showroom
The prices are hugely inflated.
Price on the Internet have no connection to prices in the showrooms.
Cars as advertised at a location are never there, leaving you to pick from a bunch of motley examples.
Salesman takes keys and then vanishes forcing you to look at their "stock"
Keep you waiting, charge the earth, quote silly figures etc etc
I would never visit one of those again, even a shady secondhand dealer is better than these !!!!!!.

Thanks Guys, You are all much faster typers than me! I post a reply and theres been loads since the last one! Daveyjp, We are not unwary I don't think, we know Carcraft are not known for being the best dealer to go to, far from it, but we dont have brilliant credit, no defaults or CCJ's, just a messed up credit history from a previos partner that has impacted on us. Anyway to cut a long story short, we knew we were going to get a rubbish finance deal, but the car we did have was costing us too much to run. Even with the Monthly payments, we are still saving £25 a month on Insurance, £10-£15 per WEEK on fuel and now £170 per year on tax. I am just annoyed we were told something which turned out to not be true.I’m selfish, impatient & a little insecure. I make mistakes, I am out of control & at times hard to handle. But if you can’t handle me at my worst, then you sure as hell don’t deserve me at my best.

You seem to have forgotten the actual cost of the " new " car and the inflated finance costs.:D0 -
It's worked out £10 per week more than we pay now, so £520 a year, and we make that back in Fuel saving alone over the year, so the Insurance and Tax saving are on top.I’m selfish, impatient & a little insecure. You have done very well then, bought a " new " car from Carcraft and you are actually going to save money, must be a first.:silenced:0 -
ask for a settlement figure and then see if you can get a loan from your bank with a lower apr0

This may seem harsh so forgive me but... if the price of the road tax was so very important why did you not research £30 tax cars, print out the list and go shopping with the list held tightly in your hand?
I just googled it and got straight to this http://www.roadtaxprices.co.uk/Road_Tax_Band_C_Cars.htm
3 pages of £30 tax cars!!! The interent means that no one has to be ill informed or mislead about anything any more.
Sorry but it just seems obvious to me.0 -
How do we end up talking about a pokey few quid on Tax when the OP has been totally fleeced by paying double the cost of an equivalent car.
OP - If money meant ANYTHING at all to you, Wild Stallions wouldn't have been able to drag you to Carshaft.
In fact, I'm surprised you aren't throwing £200 over the Post Office Counter for your £90 Tax disk. That's what you did with the car purchase.0 -
Sad fact is I'm sure most people go there for the credit as they can't afford outright, and they want to keep up with the Jones's as a sub £1k car over 15 years old just wouldn't do. They then get shafted both on the car and the finance (and tax band too it seems).0

Yeah I know why they went to Carcraft but the issue here is why they weren't more aware of the cost of road tax for the car they ended up with! If it is important enough to start a thread about (to try and get compo for it) then you'd think it would be important enough to research before they went car shopping!0
