Nokia E52 - anyone got one?

I am thinking of getting the E52 as I mainly use a phone for talking. I prefer Nokia, have tried others, but tend to go back to Nokia. This one seems to have a brilliant battery life which is important to me. I also do not want a qwerty keypad as I rarely send texts.
I know there were some problems with this phone last year which was when most reviews were written at the time the phone first came out so I am wondering have these problems been sorted now?

  • I had the E51 before the E52 and found it a great phone. I was hoping the E52 would be the same but with all the added features. Initial (massive) problems with blutooth/ car handsfree have now been resolved with the lates firmware but the phone still frequently hangs necessitating taking the battery out and restarting. navigating the menu system is a nightmare and as "intuitional" as the latest offerings from Bill Gates. Charging is via the Nokia mini USB and is at the side rather than the base. There's an earphone jack at the top of the phone which is probably great for listening to music if the phone is in your shirt pocket but seems a great way in for dust and the famous water damage.

Despite the improved features I'm thinking about selling mine and going back to an E51.

I had an E52 to replace my E51 (which I thought was a great phone). The phone itself was generally pretty good but I had problems with call quality (mainly other people not hearing me - think it was related to the noise-cancelling mic). I believe that this has since been addressed though.

I had the phone for about a month and noticed that users had been reporting problems for about five months. Nokia had not issued a fixed and did not even confirm there was an issue. I decided that there was no guarantee that it would ever be fixed so asked for a refund. Nokia refused to do a refund so I took them to court and they paid up. I then read that the problem had been fixed.

My personal view is that I would not go back to Nokia out of principal. However, the phone itself is good (if they have fixed the issues) so if you like Nokia phones then it could be for you.

I test with alot of Symbian phones and the E series FP2 devices (E52/E72) did have quite a few problems in the early firmware releases. Nothing I remember with normal voice calls though.

As is typical with Nokia, after a few firmware updates, they seem to be reasonably stable.
