Can't imagine what it could be, but it's probably something the cat brought in - you say your cat doesn't go out much, so that means it does go out sometimes? You could try Elizabeth Arden Green Tea bath and shower stuff. I say this because I used to work in care homes and regularly caught scabies (which also causes intense itching) from one particular care home, and found by happenstance that Elizabeth Arden Green Tea bath and shower stuff got rid of it. (No I haven't got shares, this is true. I bought it because I like the fragrance). I'm recommending it because it might get rid of the itching, and it's a much nicer way of doing it than the chemicals that the doc or chemist recommends.
Maybe also you could take the cat to a cat groomer for a bath with an insecticidal shampoo (yes there are cat groomers who give cats baths!)
Might be an idea also to take all your bedding (including duvet, or get a new one, they're not expensive) to the laundrette's big washing machine and give it all a very hot wash and a hot dry, and sprinkle insecticidal powder over the mattress. Also, if you've got time, iron the sheets etc as hot as possible without damaging them. Also give the house/flat a spring clean - maybe get help to do it?
Try not to feel too bad about it. There are a lot of horrible things going round that anyone can catch. If it wasn't the cat, you could have caught it from public transport. Easily done.0 -
If it's any consolation I am suffering from more bites this last few weeks - I considered bedbugs but not stayed in any hotels or anything.I have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knife

I think its probably fleas, just because you have'nt seen any on your cat it does'nt mean she has'nt got them, when my cat has fleas they always bite me even though i can never find any on her.
You should buy a spray from the vet or online, indorex is good and spray the whole house.....0 -
Apparently we're going to have a bed-bug pandemic

I'd de-flea the cat as a precaution, I read the same BBC report on bed bugs, they can hide in your clothes and come home in your suitcase... better get the hoover out, OP.:(Member of the first Mortgage Free in 3 challenge, no.19
