    Harvest mites maybe?
I've had a few bites lately around my waist and the Vet has suggested that the infection my cats have at the moment could be caused by harvest mites.

    Hi

When I saw the Doctor in Scotland he did say that he thought it was bedbugs and he was right.

If the bites are on your calves then it shouldn't be them?

But whatever is biting you, then you need to find out what it is?

I really feel for you, after my ordeal it took me ages to settle in bed. The slightest itch and my mind went into overdrive.

Hopefully your Doctor will treat this seriously and help you identify whatever is causing these bites.

I know how distressing it can be.

    Good Luck and take care

Right - well there doesn't seem to be anything obvious that I am missing. So I'll make an appt for the morning.

At least if it as fleas I would know how to deal with it!

I've been bitten a few times by mozzies / midgies recently, dont always notice it until later when it's very itchy, red and hot to touch. The only thing i've found that gives a bit of relief to the itching is tea-tree oil. The GP advised anti-histimine tablets or cream, I reacted horribly to the cream and not sure that the tablet made any difference so sticking to tea tree oil.

Hope you get it sorted- I had what I thought was bites, I thought I had fleas!!

It turned out it was the beginning of a type of a condition called Lichen Planus. It then developed into psoriosis, I had to do alot of reading, I learned alot but one thing I did learn was that skin conditions are very had to diagnose and how the develop is often the decider rather then what they currently look like.

There are many many many skin conditions it could be, bites are just one type of infliction you can get, thousands even. Hope you get somewhere with the doctor but my best advice would be to keep a diary, see how they develop and if they spread how they spread (eg along the skin or in blotches here and there, one unconnected from the other), what treatments you have already tried, itching- before during or after certain activities or times of the day its worse, what if anything you may have altered food wise, stress levels...they all contribute, it can all help to a diagnosis and correct treatment.

I have been to the doctor and he said that these are definitely insect bites. He didn't know what type but thought it most likely was bed bugs... yuck!!

So any solutions for getting rid of the blighters?

Just did a quick google and sounds to me like you need to call in the exterminators! In fact what I read freaked me out a bit - apparently you can also end up with bedbugs from delivery vans and storage facilities as well :eek: see here for more http://www.wikihow.com/Get-Rid-of-Bed-Bugs

In your shoes I'd get the professionals in before things get any worse!

I've tried Belfastgirl! But they won't come until I have caught one of the little blighters or if I can find at casing from one. I have looked everywhere but just can't find any evidence of them. No little brown marks on the bed, sheets, mattrass, walls, no casings, nothing. It's all very frustrating.

    Thanks though!

Nothing - just that she had a problem with bed bugs at a hotel there.
