Pay for what?...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0

They should recieve the crumbs from the landowners table and be grateful for it. And, of course, when the landowners have gambled away their wealth, the ever prudent social tenant should be the first with his hand in his pocket to prop up the crumbling corruption that the landowner has created.

In fact what happens is that previous tenant sells in-place kitchen to subsequent tenant.0 -
I think many council houses are well below housing standards and I think many posters believe well it is a dry place to lay there heads why moan?. My view is the sooner these councils which still retain housing stock hand over to HA then the council tenant can expect better improvement's however rents are higher . I think when you venture in to some cities the stock is so poor, The HA wouldn't want them and the answer may be to demolish and have a new look at everything .But subsidise is a word many posters like to use to deny tenants the right to secure tenure however if we go down that road what we all want and do not want to subsidise because we think it unfair or do not want to subsidise it would be madness.HA are they way forward you will always get your critics although law of averages some people who express the hatred for ALL social tenants apart from showing a lack of a being brought up properly many could find themselves under this coalition losing the home they cherish so much due to not being able to meet the M payments and venturing in to private rent where they will be asked to go after 1-2 years they then have to move the children to another school etc etc , I would also add as in our village a number of the children of home owners have put their names forward to HA for local affordable homes as they can't afford private rents with out claiming HB so would rather pay an affordable rent.0

Forgive me, but I'm rocking with mirth here; I'm sure you're right in many cases, but the four houses near me, each occupied by a lone female, are, as I type, all having:
New kitchens
New bathrooms
New boilers
New flooring
God knows what else
In fact, judging by the number of vans outside, they are each getting a whole new house:eek:.0 -

And again in three years when the "like for sh*te" as my neighbour put it falls apart.
They got a "rewire" which was new plug socket covers. New kitchen that's the biggest bodge job in the world. New front doors "what colour would you like"...
They did spend 4k repointing and reroofing sheds apparently though so god knows how much the rest cost.0
